Re-issue of ‘The Country Child’

We are delighted to say that Puffin Children’s books have just issued a special edition of The Country Child, as part of their classic children’s books series.

It is a book that appeals to all age groups, and is based on Alison’s childhood in rural Derbyshire.

Thanks to Jane Wingfield for sending this picture of her grand-daughter, holding Silky, the grey rabbit Jane made for her.

We were pleased to help Jane with her query about a poem, that was actually by a British/Canadian writer not Alison Uttley. Nevertheless, it was an interesting quest and we were pleased to help.

Re-issue of ‘A Traveller in Time’ on DVD

BBC to re-issue their film of A Traveller in Time, Alison Uttley’s classic novel. It will be available from November 2015 on DVD. This has been asked for so many times by those contacting  our website. We are delighted that fans all over the world can now buy the original version, filmed at Manor Farm, Dethick, Derbyshire.

Alison Uttley Walk – 5 July

Join Chas Arnold on this challenging 5 mile guided walk with fantastic views that visits some of the places associated with the life and work of local author Alison Uttley. The walk will pass Castle Top Farm where she was born before heading to Lea where she went to school. This walk involves rugged uphill walking, stepping stones across a brook and ten stiles.

Alison Uttley Prize for 2014

The University of Manchester has established a Prize in memory of Alison in their Physics and Astronomy department. The Prize is awarded annually for the student who had contributed most to the life and work of the School of Physics and Astronomy during the previous year.
